MaxLinear Tuner + Demodulator Gains CableLabs Certification as Part of DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Gateway Solution

Certification of SMC's MxL241SF-based 8x4 Gateway as Part of CW 72

CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MaxLinear Inc., a provider of integrated radio frequency (RF) and mixed-signal integrated circuits for broadband communication applications, today announced that the performance of its MxL241SF MPEG tuner has been confirmed by CableLabs as part of the certification of the SMC Networks' SMCD3DGN2 cable gateway solution.

The SMCD3DGN2 was evaluated as part of CableLabs Certification Wave 72 and is the first 8x4 gateway based on Texas Instruments' Puma 5 chipset and MaxLinear's MxL241SF to earn this certification.

The MxL241SF, a third generation RF receiver system-on-chip, is a digital cable receiver and demodulator that meets North American video and DOCSIS standards. The MxL241SF has a low power output of 450mW, is highly integrated and provides simple software integration.
